This article walks you through a quick pre-install checklist to make sure your OBDtune setup goes smoothly. You’ll learn what to prepare in advance—battery/power, DEF (AdBlue) fill level, and how to capture and send a LOGFILE if needed—plus what to expect depending on your radio/screen type.
Charge the battery. If possible, run the engine for 30 minutes.
If your vehicle cannot start due to a DEF/AdBlue block, use a 40A battery charger connected for at least 1 hour. For smaller chargers (3–5 amps), charging for 24 hours will be necessary. Please follow your Battery Charger’s instructions for proper use.
Plan 20–40 minutes with no rush. Ideally at home/office/garage—not in a “last minute parking lot” situation.
A warm environment helps. If possible, park the vehicle in a warm place for a few hours before installation and perform the install there.
A full DEF tank is required for successful installation of any solution.
It may sound counterintuitive before removing DEF-related logic, but the procedure requires a full tank to complete correctly.
Fill to 100%. Even if your tank is around 70–90%, top it off to full.
Do not overfill to the neck. If it’s overfilled, the ultrasonic level sensor can read incorrectly.
Important: if you cannot fill the DEF tank due to a leak or a fault, you must tell us before purchase so we don’t waste time on attempts that are unlikely to succeed.
If anything goes wrong during installation, we will usually need the LOGFILE (installation log).
To send it, you typically need:
