This Warranty Policy explains how OBDTune handles warranty claims for eligible hardware products, including OBD modules, reset modules, emulator kits, and related physical products.

This Warranty Policy is part of our Terms of Use.

By purchasing or using an OBDTune product, you agree to this Warranty Policy.

Warranty in Simple Terms

We stand behind our hardware products. If your OBDTune device has a confirmed manufacturing defect within the warranty period, we may repair it, replace it, or refund the defective product.

The warranty does not cover vehicle problems, incorrect installation, damage, misuse, wrong vehicle information, or issues unrelated to the OBDTune product itself.

Overview

OBDTune may provide a limited warranty for eligible hardware products purchased directly from OBDTune.

This warranty applies only to qualifying hardware defects. It does not cover vehicle problems, installation mistakes, customer misuse, incorrect vehicle information, unsupported vehicles, or unrelated mechanical, electrical, diagnostic, emissions-related, or legal issues.

Warranty Period

Unless otherwise stated on the product page, invoice, or written communication from OBDTune, eligible hardware products include a limited one-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

The warranty period starts on the date the product is delivered to the customer.

If a replacement product is provided under warranty, the replacement does not restart a new warranty period unless OBDTune expressly states otherwise in writing. The replacement product remains covered for the remaining warranty period of the original product.

What Is Covered

This limited warranty covers confirmed manufacturing defects in eligible OBDTune hardware products.

A manufacturing defect may include an internal product failure that prevents the product from functioning as intended under normal use, when:

  • the product was used with a compatible vehicle;
  • the product was installed and used according to OBDTune instructions;
  • the customer followed OBDTune support recommendations;
  • the product was not damaged, modified, opened, misused, or repaired without authorization;
  • the issue is not caused by the vehicle, installation, wiring, power supply, connectors, or unrelated systems.

What Is Not Covered

Warranty coverage does not apply to damage, malfunction, or failure caused by:

  • incorrect installation;
  • misuse, abuse, or failure to follow instructions;
  • physical, electrical, or water damage;
  • vehicle electrical problems, low voltage, weak battery, wiring issues, or connector problems;
  • incorrect wiring, wrong fuse connection, poor ground, reversed polarity, or short circuit;
  • unauthorized modification, repair, opening, or tampering;
  • use on an unsupported or incompatible vehicle;
  • incorrect VIN, incorrect vehicle information, or wrong vehicle selection provided by the customer;
  • aftermarket devices, CAN devices, diagnostic tools, prior incorrect repairs, non-original software, or vehicle modifications;
  • normal wear and tear;
  • loss, theft, accidental damage, shipping damage after delivery, or handling damage;
  • any issue not caused by a manufacturing defect of the OBDTune product.

Vehicle Problems Are Not Warranty Defects

OBDTune products are designed to address specific supported systems, functions, or software-related conditions.

Warranty coverage does not apply to vehicle problems, including:

  • mechanical or electrical issues;
  • wiring, connector, or CAN communication problems;
  • weak battery or low voltage problems;
  • faulty sensors not covered by the selected product;
  • ECU or control unit failures;
  • fuel system, turbocharger, exhaust, or DPF restriction problems not covered by the selected service;
  • prior incorrect repairs, aftermarket modifications, or non-original software;
  • unsupported ECU or control unit versions;
  • water damage, accident damage, or corrosion;
  • failed emissions inspection, readiness monitor status, or registration issues.

The customer is responsible for the general mechanical, electrical, diagnostic, emissions, and legal condition of the vehicle.

Installation-Related Issues

Installation-related problems are not manufacturing defects.

Warranty coverage does not apply if the issue is caused by:

  • incorrect wire, fuse, ground, or signal connection;
  • failure to disconnect required control units, sensors, or connectors when instructed;
  • failure to check LED status or other indicators when instructed;
  • failure to follow the correct module, script, or installation sequence;
  • removing an OBD module while the LED is blinking or the process is active;
  • disconnecting power during programming;
  • starting the engine with the OBD module installed when not instructed;
  • continuing installation after an error without contacting support;
  • damage caused by tools, force, improper handling, or incorrect installation method.

If the customer is not comfortable performing the installation, the customer should use a qualified technician.

Troubleshooting Requirement

Before a warranty claim can be approved, the customer must cooperate with OBDTune support and complete the troubleshooting process requested by OBDTune.

OBDTune may request:

  • LOGFILE data from the OBD module;
  • photos or videos of the dashboard;
  • photos or videos of the installation;
  • photos or videos of the module, emulator, wiring, fuse connection, control unit, or connectors;
  • diagnostic scans;
  • fault codes;
  • confirmation that installation steps were followed;
  • information about previous repairs, modifications, or diagnostic work;
  • additional tests or support steps.

If the customer refuses, stops, or fails to participate in the troubleshooting process, OBDTune may deny the warranty claim.

Warranty Review and Approved Claims

After receiving a warranty claim, OBDTune may review the order history, product purchased, warranty period, compatibility information, installation steps, support communication, LOGFILE data, photos, videos, diagnostic scans, fault codes, and customer cooperation with troubleshooting.

OBDTune may request additional information before making a decision. Failure to provide requested information may result in denial of the warranty claim.

If OBDTune confirms that an eligible product has a manufacturing defect covered by this Warranty Policy, OBDTune may, at its discretion:

  • repair the product;
  • replace the product;
  • provide troubleshooting or technical correction;
  • issue a refund for the defective product.

A replacement product may be new, refurbished, repaired, or functionally equivalent.

Shipping for Warranty Claims

OBDTune may require the customer to return the product before a warranty replacement or refund is approved.

Returned products must be safely packaged and sent according to OBDTune instructions.

OBDTune is not responsible for returned products lost or damaged in transit.

Shipping costs, customs duties, import taxes, VAT, brokerage fees, carrier fees, and third-party fees related to warranty claims may be handled according to our Shipping Policy, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

No Labor, Diagnostic, or Vehicle Costs

This warranty covers only the eligible OBDTune product itself.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OBDTune does not cover:

  • mechanic labor, diagnostic, towing, rental vehicle, travel, or transportation costs;
  • vehicle downtime;
  • replacement vehicle parts or vehicle repair costs;
  • emissions inspection or registration fees;
  • customs duties, taxes, or third-party fees;
  • lost income, lost business, lost profits, or lost opportunities;
  • costs caused by unrelated vehicle problems, installation errors, or third parties.

Refunds and Warranty Claims

A warranty claim is not the same as a refund request.

Refund eligibility is governed by our Refund Policy.

A confirmed hardware defect does not automatically create a right to a refund. Depending on the situation, OBDTune may repair, replace, troubleshoot, or refund the defective product according to this Warranty Policy and applicable law.

Relationship With Other Policies

This Warranty Policy should be read together with our Terms of Use, Refund Policy, Shipping Policy, Privacy Policy, and Emissions & Compliance Disclaimer.

If there is a conflict between this Warranty Policy and the Terms of Use, the Terms of Use will apply unless applicable law requires otherwise.
